Our first CirclePaw test is designed for man’s best friend.
The CirclePaw test looks into specific genes in a dog’s DNA sample and analyses what gene variation, caused by one or more single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP), the DNA contains. Each gene variation affects a dog differently. By processing the SNPs with our proprietary algorithms, we are able to provide insights in the following categories:
- The Health category test results show whether your dog has an average or elevated genetic risk of developing certain types of hereditary disorders.
Why is this important? Knowing this may help you and the veterinarian make more informed healthcare decisions to prevent or diagnose hereditary disorders at an earlier and potentially more treatable stage. - The Trait category test results may give you a further understanding of your pet’s breed, physical traits, behavioural traits, and well-being traits.
Why is this important? Such insight may allow you to use your pet’s genetic information to explore personalised solutions for your pet’s care and social interactions. Genetics is only one component in most traits and conditions, and the value comes from understanding your dog’s genetic profile so that you can make sustainable changes that support his or her wellness. - The Breed category test results may show the breed composition of your pet, along with more general details of diseases and traits the breed is predisposed to.
Why is this important? This can help you and the veterinarian to be aware of potential diseases your pet could be susceptible to, even if a specific genetic variant was not identified in the Health section of the test results. If your dog is of mixed breed, breed category test results can also help you to understand the underlying compositions of the different breeds.
